Mixed media paintings
As a child I spent many hours drawing and painting but with a family and my busy career in medicine, it has been only the last few years I have been able to enjoy time to paint and to refine my skills as an artist.
I am mostly a self-taught artist but have had the honor of working alongside three wonderful artists and mentors in our area. Their input has been invaluable. In addition to my medical studies, I hold a degree in interior design and especially loved architectural rendering, prior to CAD.
I am inspired by the detail and form of ancient art and architecture as well as the stunning beauty and detailed patterns found in nature.
I initially began painting in oil and mixed media. More recently I have been exploring the medias individually. I have works in oil, watercolor, colored pencil, graphite, and pastel. The knowledge I gain working in each media helps me achieve the visual results I aspire for in my paintings–from the roughness of masonry to the softness of feathers.
I have been honored twice by Sidney Art Gallery and twice by Peninsula Art League for my work. The pieces that placed were mixed media, oil, colored pencil and pastel.
I am enjoying getting to know our art community and cherish the time I now have creating my art.
