Ceramics

My work is inspired by organic forms, elemental processes, and the natural world. I work with both commercial media and wild materials foraged by hand to create pieces defined by tactile textures and the unpredictable surfaces of atmospheric firings.

My path began with a BFA in Fashion Surface Design from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, which sparked a lifelong appreciation for texture, visual layering, and subtle pattern. After working professionally as a costume and jewelry designer, my curiosity led me to ceramics. Since 2022, I have pursued a journey in clay, expanding my craft through specialized workshops alongside established ceramic artists with expertise in wood firing, raw material gathering, and both wheel and hand building techniques.

Process is the root of my studio practice. Building technical knowledge, formulating custom glazes, and experimenting with unrefined minerals continually fuel my curiosity. Wood firing introduces an element of deliberate chance to my work—where ash and flame ensure no two pieces are ever alike.

Currently, I am exploring the subtle nuances of wood firing while developing surface decorations from unexpected sources using wild clay gathered both locally and on my travels. I am constantly experimenting with new ways to share my voice as a ceramic artist
