Mixed media, Washi tape
Bainbridge Island, WA
Blending the whimsical with a zen-influenced “art of letting go” inspires my mixed media, washi tape art. The art changes with the lighting, the angle, over time, and gives into the truth that no thing is permanent.
I explore the multifaceted nature that makes up my subjects while adding a 3D effect to my work by cutting the washi tape into tiny pieces and layering them. Have you never heard of washi tape? It is a decorative paper masking tape – thin, durable, made of natural fibers like hemp and bamboo, and comes in hundreds of colors and patterns.
Washi tape, mixed media art, allows me to share that there are no mistakes in art, only opportunities for doing something different.
“Solstice” is an award-winning artwork, First Place at the San Diego County Fair in 2019.
