Fused glass
Bainbridge Island, WA
Debra was introduced to the techniques of Fused Glass in 2018, and fell in love with the diversity of the medium. A resident of Bainbridge Island for the past 12 years, she has fallen deep into Fused Glass Art. She continues to hold down a full time job as a small business owner, and spends her off time traveling, and expanding on her knowledge in the world of kiln formed glass. What started as a hobby is quickly becoming a business, as folks appreciate and seek out her creations.
Debra grew up in Toledo Ohio, at the time it was the Glass Capital of the World, her father was a graphic artist at Libby Glassware in his 20’s, so there must be some kismet here. She has always loved Glass Art, and has sought out galleries to view while on travels throughout the world. Her adventures in travel can be seen in many of the pieces she creates, recreating the essence of those adventures. She considers it an honor to develop the artistic skills of melding art and science together to create wonderful pieces using Handmade Art Glass and Upcycled Glass. She creates using mostly PNW handmade fused glass and some repurposed glass. Her Upcycled Sculptures appear to be fluid with water like texture and movement.
Continually learning from teachers near and far, gives her the opportunity to create a variety of art pieces for Home Decor, Yard Art, and Dynamic Serving-ware for everyday and entertainment use. Kevin DeLashmutt, Debra’s husband, joins in the joy of creating display stands using organic materials such as Driftwood, and Stone along with Metals in their design offerings. Be sure and check out their website for an expanded look into their designs.
