Ceramics
Cat Bodnyk is a ceramic artist, printmaker, and jewelry-maker based in Poulsbo, WA. Plants and animals are a strong theme in her work. These are conveyed simply in natural, colorful palettes and bold shapes that reflect her background in woodcut printmaking.
Her ceramic pieces are wheel-thrown and then carefully surface-carved to reveal each detail. The simple, bold motifs draw inspiration from children’s wood block toys, Mexican otomi textiles, and Matisse paper cuts.
Cat also finds joy in screen printing, including t-shirts and art prints. Her past projects have included gouache painting, hand-rolled paper bead-making, and meticulous Pysanky egg decorating. She continues to explore new materials, mediums, and techniques that inspire her through her artistic journey.
