Photography

An exploration of the intimacy of nature.

I studied zoology and ornithology in college but found my true love of nature through the lens of a camera. As I found my footing as a young photographer, I had the great fortune to study under some of photography’s true masters, including Ansel Adams and William Neill in Carmel, California, and later at the Death Valley Workshop with Clinton Smith. These mentors gave me the tools, skills, and insight that have guided me throughout my career.

To me, each photograph is a jewel, a precious discovery meant to be lingered over. May it bring you a little of the stillness I found in my journeys.

When I find harmony in nature, that profound moment of stillness, I aim, focus, and make the photograph. The position of the sun, the season, the fog, the velocity of the wind — all of it shapes the decision to press the shutter.

But the photograph is only half the work. I am also a Fine Art Master Printer, and I print every image myself, in my own studio — nothing is sent to a lab. Printing is where the photograph becomes my art—I choose the paper, balance the tone, and produce museum-quality giclée prints up to 44 inches wide, using archival pigment inks so the final piece carries the same intention as the moment I captured it. This is a rare pairing, and few photographers control both ends of the process, from field to frame.

The results are the art I want to share with you.
