Rita Belserene has been making pottery on Bainbridge Island for 30 years. Her work is both beautiful and functional, with colors and designs inspired by the Pacific Northwest. She frequently uses plants of the area in combination with the wax-resist process to create fossil-like images on the surface. Rita’s pieces are designed to become part of your family’s daily life. In addition to showing enchanting depth and complexity, her glazes are chosen for durability. You can safely use them in the oven and clean them in the dishwasher. In addition to functional pottery, Rita creates hand-built clay whistles in animal shapes. She enjoys the minor miracle of creating music from mud.
