Raw, unapologetic, vibrant, emotional. Shirley Sakatani’s recent artwork embodies fast pouring, wiping, splattering, spraying and bold strokes. A graduate from California State University with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Shirley has been funneling life’s twists and turns into her art, using her love for colors, movement and composition to create large, sometimes exploding, florals and abstract koi paintings on canvas.
Aside from her large canvas work, Shirley also paints custom pet portraits in oil. These realistic, heartwarming portraits have strengthened both her oil and acrylic painting technique allowing the multiple layers to glow from underneath.
It has been a remarkable journey for Shirley as she continues to reform herself and find healing through her art. Thank you for being a part of her adventure!
