I am a mixed media and acrylic painter. My process is an intuitive one. I am very inspired by color and words and that is generally where I start. There is some imagery that I tend to use as my go-to, and then I let it flow and see where it takes me. There are many layers in my work and recently I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with new mediums like encaustic and plaster.
My most recent work has been on wood blocks that are meant to be inspirational and remind the owner of their own magnificence. Yet, I never venture too far from painting on the big canvas and with bold colors because of the sense of freedom and play I find in painting big.
I studied Art in college at the Art Institute of Chicago, and in various courses in Boston and Italy, and am always on the lookout for a new teacher that inspires me to push my work in a different direction. Aside from amazing teachers, what has influenced my process the most is my 20 years of studying energy healing, meditation, and shamanism. I’ve come to believe that our inherent gifts can heal not only ourselves, but others. Bringing energy healing into my art has helped me realize that I find the deepest joy in connecting my spiritual practice with my passion for creating.
