The Artists
My work has a strong illustrative element. My aim is to tell a story that the viewer can escape into or wonder about. I have always been captivated by art with a narrative. And so, I aspire to give my artwork a voice to captivate its viewers as well.
My preferred medium is Oil. I love the traditional nature of it and the whimsical subtleties it offers. I am inspired by the work of the old masters and their focus on storytelling. I also embrace the new styles and materials available in today’s modern world. I like to try to meld the two. I am a big fan of contrast in all forms.
My most formal training came from extensive study at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, where I learned a lot about traditional painting and drawing techniques. Capturing the essence of the world I live in, with a nod to the old master’s superior craftsmanship and propensity for storytelling, is at the foundation of the art I make today.
