The Artists

Dawn resides on Bainbridge Island in Washington State, having arrived six years ago from Southern California. After an active working career in travel marketing and real estate, along with her life-long pursuit in ceramic art, she considers it a blessing now to be able to devote full time to her craft. Her family drew her to the island, where she immediately volunteered as a docent at the new Bainbridge Island Museum of Art which currently sells her work in their shop.

Dawn’s creativity begins in a studio space in her beautiful home; and firing, glazing and finishing is done at Hidden Cove Pottery. Firing is usually mid-range along with occasional raku firings. She continues educating herself with classes to enhance techniques, and feels gifted in becoming part of the island’s vibrant art community which inspires creativity and gives a sense of community. Her pieces reflect a variety of interests, including character egg cups, elephants, teapots, etc., very often inspired by her children.

Her work has been collected and/or for sale on Bainbridge Island, in Vancouver, B.C., Cortona, Italy, Athens, Georgia, Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, and Mission Viejo in California. She attended the 2005 International Ceramic Art Conference in Yixing, China, and was invited to have a piece in their museum. She continues to donate her work to the Bainbridge Museum in order to assist them in their annual fund raising efforts and participates yearly in Bainbridge Island’s Artist Studio Tours.

Dawn’s whimsical outlook and passion for life are truly reflected in her pieces. Her mission: “If I can make you smile, it’s all been worthwhile!”
