Robert Spangler & Birgit Josenhans
Built as a machine shop in the 40's, Robert Spangler's studio has gone through many transformations over the years. It has served as a print studio, a parts fabrication shop and even a CD/video production space. Located in the historic West Blakely neighborhood at the south end of the island it now again provides the space for artists to produce and show their work.
Robert has been a furniture maker for over 40 years. His work has been included in National shows, public art projects, various publications, competitions and private collections. Over the years he has come to believe that building and designing are inseparable - both processes inspire, one feeding the other.
Birgit Josenhans joined the craft six years ago after a career in World Language teaching. When not assisting in the process of designing and building, she is developing the B-line of boxes, board and benches using locally harvested woods and sustainable materials.
Keeping the art of fine woodworking alive and developing it with our clients, using wood in a sustainable way, designing and building contemporary furniture that represent and reflect on our time in an inspiring way is the foundation of our studio.
