Mixed media acrylic
After decades spent creating art digitally, I made the leap to cradled wood, acrylics and the photographic technique of gel transfer. I was an advertising and design art director for 20 years so I brought with me a great sense of composition, color and technique to my work.
I shoot with everything from a 4 x 5 camera to my iPhone. I take the image and edit it using Photoshop (which usually means getting rid of telephone lines and other visual pollution) then create a gel skin of the image that I apply to my painted, molded, torn, scraped and textured surface. Then I start painting. It's a roller coaster ride no matter how much I may plot - the images, the textures, the colors - sometimes I'm just the wrist serving the idea, never knowing where I'll land until the last drop of paint dries.
