The astonishing energies at work while the earth was forming produced an enormous array of breathtaking gemstones. Modern and ancient cultures believe that gemstones possess healing properties and physical energies. Gemstones, silver, gold, platinum and glass are all ancient materials possessing mystical properties, and levels of energy that heal and inspire both the artist and the wearer.

Suz, an artist learned in glass, photography, and video, has concentrated her energy on Jewelry, Metalsmithing and Lapidary for the past twenty years. O'Dell designs and fabricates jewelry, working in metals and gemstones. Her one-of-a-kind pieces highlighting precious and semi-precious gemstones, set in silver, gold, Precious Metal Clay (PMC), and most recently in BronzClay draws on ancient themes, interwoven with contemporary interpretations.

Suz works intuitively in the design and fabrication of her jewelry. Since 1990 she has work primarily in silver, often adding texture by hammer, stamp or rolling mill. Her interest began with Lapidary (the cutting and polishing of gems). As Suz developed her skills in cutting stones, she began learning how to set the stones using various metals. During her lifetime career as an artist, Suz worked in glass, photography, film/video, and mixed media collage.

Suz became a certified Precious Metal Clay (PMC) teacher through the PMC Guild in 1999 and has taught PMC at various art centers on the west coast. She currently offers courses and weekend workshops at Danaca Design Studio in Seattle.
